Mental Health Conditions Treated in IOP
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a full-time day treatment option for people stepping down from a partial hospitalization program (PHP). It is also an alternative for people who need more help than weekly therapy visits can offer. Participants go home each night and apply their newfound skills in real-world settings.
We treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including:
- Anxiety
- Behavioral problems
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Substance use disorder (SUD)
- Trauma
Structured Mental Health Care for Children, Teens and Adults
Intensive outpatient care provides structured group therapy, education, skills development and individual and family therapy. Group therapy provides opportunities to understand different perspectives to similar challenges, while creating bonds of trust and respect.
Features of our IOP programs include:
- Consistent care: The same licensed therapist treats participants throughout the duration of their IOP experience. Treatment builds on current coping skills and emotional resilience.
- Medication management: Participants have weekly visits with their psychiatrist to fine-tune their medication(s) and dosage(s).
- Family participation: Parents and caregivers participate in making medication recommendations for their child or teen.
- Continuum of care: After finishing IOP, participants can go back to their previous therapist and psychiatrist. We can assist with that transition or match participants with recommended mental health care professionals.
Our IOPs include:
IOP for Children: Branches Excel Fort Worth
Branches Excel Fort Worth treats children ages 5-18. IOP hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Child- and adolescent-trained psychologists lead the program. Children receive two hours of grade-level education and three hours of skills development daily. Group, individual and family therapy help facilitate recovery through learning and processing. We also offer an evening Virtual IOP for high-achieving teens with after-school academic or athletic obligations.
IOP for Teens: Branches Arlington
Teens ages 12-17 benefit from adolescent-only programming for help with mental health challenges during this life stage. IOP hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Branches Arlington. Participants receive two hours of grade-level education and three hours of skills development daily.
Programming is built on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), focusing on how thoughts, feelings and behaviors affect each other. During IOP, teens develop and use established coping strategies and gain new abilities to help manage everyday life. We also offer an evening Virtual IOP for high-achieving teens with after-school academic or athletic obligations.
IOP for Adults: Branches Arlington and Branches Midtown
The adult IOP takes place Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. Hybrid options may be available for participants with occasional professional or family responsibilities. We find a way to help you get the care you need.
Both Branches Arlington and Branches Midtown offer general mental health care IOPs. Our Arlington location also offers treatment for people with a dual diagnosis of mental health and substance use disorders. Branches Arlington is also home to Second Chances, our program for people with a history of repeat hospitalizations, medication noncompliance and schizoaffective disorder.
