Online Program for Adolescent Mental Health
Virtual intensive outpatient (VIOP) care provides group and individual therapy. Sessions take place three hours a night, three nights a week.
The online nature of the program enables adolescents (ages 12-18) across Texas to participate. VIOP is ideal for self-disciplined teens who can pay attention and participate in a virtual setting.
Two hours of the program are dedicated to group therapy, focusing on sharing, learning and processing. Participants address common topics and bond as peers on a mental health care journey. They learn how to reframe negative situations and seek out evidence that supports (or disputes) their interpretation of events.
The third hour is a breakout session for individual video visits with a therapist. Teens see the same therapist throughout the VIOP. The goal is to help successful students and student athletes overcome the emotional challenges that hold them back.
