Support for Veterans in Crisis

At Millwood Hospital, we deeply honor the serve and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans and military families. Loren Fouch, our CEO, is a proud military wife, and many of our dedicated team members are veterans themselves. We are committed to providing compassionate care to those who have given so much to our country.

We understand the unique challenges that military life can bring, from stress of deployment and transitions to the behavioral health concerns that may arise from service. Whether you or your loved one is experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use issues or other mental health challenges, Millwood Hospital is here to help.

Our specialized programs are designed with veterans in mind. We offer:

  • Crisis Stabilization: Immediate care for those in urgent need and who are experiencing distressing thoughts of harming themselves or others.
  • Inpatient Services: Sometimes people need a safe and structured environment to stabilize. Millwood Hospital is an excellent choice for our military families and Veterans to seek treatment for mental health or substance use issues.
  • Outpatient Services: Our Branches locations offer flexible options for outpatient treatment in ways that are tailored to individual needs.
  • Trauma-informed Care: Our staff is trained in trauma-informed treatment and our therapy sessions address the impact of military experiences on mental health.

Help for Veterans in Crisis

Did you know that the Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care and Treatment (COMPACT) Act is now in effect?

Veterans who were discharged in any way other than dishonorably who are experiencing a suicidal crisis can go to any mental healthcare facility for no-cost healthcare in times of crisis. This expansion of care is designed to help prevent veteran suicide by guaranteeing no-cost mental treatment.

The act allows the VA to:

  • Provide, pay for or reimburse for treatment of eligible individuals’ emergency suicide care, transportation costs and follow-up care at a VA or non-VA facility for up to 30 days of inpatient
  • Make appropriate referrals for care following the period of emergency suicide care
